CYP – week ahead

Good afternoon everyone,

I am sure that the cheers from the CYP office could be heard down St Kilda Road yesterday with the opening of the right turn from Park Street onto St Kilda Road. One little data card arrived, a team of sparkies and now movements around the area have become a little bit easier.

Next week will be a short due to the AFL grand final long weekend, with crews finishing up on Thursday and recommencing Tuesday 3 October.

  1. Albert Road legacy construction

The works out the front of Kettle Black were completed earlier in the week and the new bike loops are in. A few more bits and pieces are to take place here before the temporary fencing is removed. Next week we will continue to work on the linear park. We will be excavating the strata vaults which will allow us to plant trees in the park next year. You’ll also see the team continuing with the laying of bluestone in the area. CitiPower will be working on the northern footpath of Albert Road next week as well which may detour foot traffic.

  1. Albert Road Reserve Station Entrance

For those who can see down into the Albert Station entrance it has largely looked the same until Wednesday when the precast wall elements began to be installed. All of the walls around the perimeter have now been poured, with a few pours remaining for the internal walls. Soon, you’ll start to see the form work for the roof slab come together. The roof pours will take place in October.

  1. Station Fitout

No update as yet on the planting at the tram stop. Fit out continues, I have included some images from below ground. You know what they say about pictures and how many words they tell.

  1. Shrine Entrance

The logistics void was closed early in the week and backfilling commenced today. Next week we will kick off with the installing the temporarily relocated services into their final resting place.

Steel fixing and pours continue within the station entrance.

  1. St Kilda Road – Bowen Lane to Bowen Crescent

Unfortunately there is still no update on the reopening of Bowen Lane.

  1. St Kilda Road Bowen Crescent to Toorak Road

Northbound Side (Towards City)

This section is very near to completion with just the final touches remaining. The smaller site south of Kings Way/ Toorak Road is on track to reopen in Mid-October.

Southbound side (Away from City)

The gas company has been working away in this section as mentioned last week. Next week we will be focusing on the kerbs in front of the Royce and aiming to reopen the pedestrian crossing to the tram stop ahead of the long weekend. Following the long weekend, things will pick up towards the Subway end of this stretch.

You may have also noticed that we have switched traffic to the MGS side between the new tram stop and Bromby, moving cyclists in the new separated bike lanes. This will let us get into the median and continue work there.

Have a great weekend,

Thanks, Rob and Remy
