I’ve had a few people ask for some info on our new Botanica Bridge – or more correctly called Jan’s Way. And we all know that it is Jan’s Way or the highway

There will be a boom gate towards the Bowen Lane end with a code of 2580.

As you can see from the diagram above, there is a ‘passing bay’.

Just thought I’d just provide an update on the driveway arrangements.

We’ve now thankfully got some clear weather and we’ve reassessed the program to ensure that access is reinstated before the weekend.

• Following dewatering and survey, today we’ll be focussing on the excavation of the remaining section and pouring the blinding layer.
• Wednesday will see the installation of the decking itself. We’ve programmed in extended working hours for tomorrow to ensure we get through as much of the decking as possible
• Thursday we’re looking at the installation of lighting, and decking baselayer/aphalting (Extended working hours have also been allowed for on Thursday)
• Friday is allocated to fencing and final linemarking with the driveway reopening Friday.

Given the long weekend approaching, we’re also looking at putting in place traffic controllers while everyone gets used to the new driveway arrangements.

We’ll send out a note today about the possibility of extended working hours.

This message from CYP…

We’ve spoken to the construction team today about the works to construct the new Botanica driveway. Based on the current progress and the forecast of rain every day next week – it unfortunately means that the Botanica driveway is going to be closed for longer than anticipated.

While it’s difficult to determine progress, based on the forecast rain next week, our current estimation is that access will be reinstated at 5pm Saturday 8 June. 

Behind the scenes we’re making every effort to reopen the driveway sooner than this date if possible. Tomorrow (Sat 1 June) we’ll be extending our work hours to 6pm to work on the driveway.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this delay. The ACE Parking passes are still valid until 19 June.

This is a ‘no through road’ with large signs explaining it is a car park entrance only…but still they come…..and struggle to back out

CYP will be in the lobby from around 4:30pm – 6:30pm.

They are there to explain, amongst other matters…

• Why the world’s ugliest scaffolding must remain for another 3 months
• Why the lower car park will be closed for an entire week
• Alternative safe parking arrangements
• Noise levels for impending works
• How access to and from lower car park to St Kilda Rd will work longer term
• Anything else you want to know

That’s right, when you exit the building at night now, you may need to wear your sunglasses. After more meetings that I care to think about, CYP have agreed that they cannot get sufficient numbers of their 28 solar powered lights to work…they have installed AC powered lights
