Noise from Ramsay Clinic
A number of you have raised the issue with the noise coming from generators in Bowen Lane for the Ramsay Clinic. The generators were an emergency installation following a major flood.
We received this update today
—-
Hi Neighbours
I have an update on our power situation for you all. While not a final resolution date, we have made significant progress in approvals and planning since I was last in touch.
I know with the warm weather there has been an increase in the load on the generators and also the impact of the noise from doors and windows being open. You may recall that we had to decrease the acoustic blankets around the compound due to the heat leading to the generators overheating and failing. We are sorry for this ongoing noise but we are doing our best ot balance the stability of power for the hospital with the noise of the generators. We have had Worksafe out to review twice in the past 3 weeks and they have advised that the decibel readings are within acceptable levels and our emergency situation as a health care facility allows us to run them in this configuration. The decibel readings are all under 85 within the immediate vicinity of the generators, on the footpath and at the building boundary, which is where Worksafe took their readings from.
I can advise that our new switchboard is now in build mode with the estimated build time 4-5 weeks. This means that we are busily planning to return the site to mains power supply as soon as the board is installed. At this point we are looking at a window in the 2 weeks post Easter, but a final date will not be known until we have a final build completion date for the switchboard itself and approval from Citipower to re-activate the sub-station. We have commenced work with Citipower already to expedite their works to enable us to switch across.
I will keep you all informed as we progress to a set date for the transition to occur but we are now well on the way to being able to remove the generators from site.
I am at a conference next week so will have intermittent access to email but please don’t hesitate to reply and I will do my best to respond in a timely manner.
Please share this information with your residents / neighbours as per my previous correspondence.
Thank you
