Link road asphalting works
Tuesday 11 December (Normal working hours)
The hot weather last week made it impossible for the contractors to be able to complete the asphalting of the new link road in time for line marking today.
Asphalting work on this section will now occur on Tuesday 11 December in preparation for opening of the link road at around 6pm the same day
Final Asphalting Layer
Saturday 15 December (between 7am and 6pm)
To finalise the link road, the project team will be asphalting a section of Bowen Lane to bring the roadway up to footpath level and create a level pedestrian crossing across Bowen Lane.
Following these works, a final layer of asphalt (the wearing course) will be applied. These works will result in the following changes:
Pedestrian Diversion
These asphalting works will require closure of the footpath between Bowen Crescent and Bowen Lane. Road and footpath access down Bowen Lane will also be closed.
During this time pedestrians will be diverted via Bowen Crescent, Kings Way and Albert Road.
Botanica Driveway Access
On Saturday, between 7am and 6pm, Botanica residents in the basement carpark will be required to enter and exist using Bowen Crescent.
During recent changes we have encountered issues when works finish early and driveway access is switched back ahead of the advertised time.
Please note, that should the works on the Bowen Lane/Albert Road intersection finish early, traffic controllers will remain on site until 6pm to allow residents enter and exit the carpark using both Bowen Lane and Bowen Crescent.
We apologise for the confusion caused by the late changes to works sequencing on Saturday. We understand this caused inconvenience to come residents and for that we are sincerely sorry.
Please note that Botanica residents using the basement carpark will continue to enter and exit using Bowen Lane for the remainder of this week and from Tuesday 11 December at 6pm the Albert Road exit will be open.
Footpath Works
The existing works on the footpath are expected to be completed on Tuesday 11 December. Whilst pedestrian diversions are in place on Saturday 15 December, we will take the opportunity to reinstate the footpath outside 390 and 400 St Kilda Road where the HV cable relocation works have taken place. These works will include removal of the metal plates, backfilling and asphalting and create some periods of medium level noise. Access to residential buildings and businesses will be maintained at all times.
We appreciate that this piece of work has taken longer than anticipated.
Thank you for your ongoing patience.
Kind Regards,
Blythe
Today’s action in the Southern Box…misses all of the very intrusive noise from the footpath digging
This picture is the path for the ‘guide wall’ for tomorrow’s action – does not seem as straight as I’d have expected…odd??

Jan and I attended the regular meeting with CYP today – nothing really new but some useful updates
See the chart above that gives the high level schedule for the next 12 months.
Takeaways for The Botanica
Other info presented included
There will be a site shutdown from December 22 to January 9 – but the 1800 105 105 number will still be manned

If you park in the lower car park then be extra careful coming home tonight.
CYP have started the change that means you cannot get to your driveway from Bowen Cres or St Kilda Rd. Tonight you may be able to squeeze through but certainly tomorrow you’ll have to go in and out via Bowen Lane
It will be a big problem until they have Albert Rd access again – planned for Friday Dec 7. To go towards the city on Kings Way, you will have to do the big loop – Bowen Lane / Kings Way, Bowen Cres, St Kilda Rd, Albert Rd
Sorry for the lack of warning – it was in a notice some weeks back but I thought the dates had moved like all other dates.
The bods from CYP have started work on the guide wall that will be used to build the diaphragm wall. This section is on the eastern edge of the southern box
Oh yeah – the pictures above, they are some of the local office workers who are really enjoying the fact that the service lane is closed. They get some afternoon exercise.
There will be a note with more detail in your letterboxes but the lower car park will be closed on Wed 28th and Saturday 1st from 7:30 am – 5 pm on each day
Call the 1800 number if it causes you problems
