Fire brigade visit

Some of you may have heard the fire alarm and/or noticed we had a visit from our local fire brigade this morning just after 7am.

A light fitting in the basement lobby, just outside the lift, started smoking. The smoke alarm correctly tripped and the fire brigade arrived inside 3 minutes.

No damage done. Paul has arranged our sparky to come and do a detailed check later today.

Just a reminder – the bells activate on the floor where the alarm has tripped plus one floor above and one below. In this case just the basement and ground floors.

If the bells are ringing on your floor then you should evacuate via the stairs. It is probably good to bang on neighbours doors on the way out.

If you are not sure then you can evacuate via the stairs at any time.

CRG Update

Sorry for lack of news lately, I’ve been away ..in quarantine / lock down and bushfire evacuation. Now back home.

Some important things to note

  • TBM progress has been great and so it now appears that we will only have the 2 TBMs running thru hard rock for 2 weeks at most. Will occur in late Feb/early March and then a week in mid April. Subject to change of course but this is likely to lessen the vibration hassles that we had late last year
  • Millie now likely to get to Town Hall Station mid/late April
  • Alice due there early June
  • That v noisy street sweeper should not operate between 8pm-7am unless some sort of spill
  • For your long term plans
    • Tram line will move to final location in about April 2023
    • Edmund Herring Oval return to park 2025

Hope to see you there.

Wow – best wreath

They say that true champions bounce back from disappointments. This time last year, I know that Danii was very disappointed to miss out on winning the very prestigious “best wreath” at The Botanica.

Danii set her sights on the 2020 award and delivered this masterpiece that impressed the judges. Congrats, well deserved.

I understand that Wally has agreed to add to the generous prize to ensure that you have a well deserved banquet at “Giro”.

Thanks all who entered and thanks Graeme for judging.

Xmas wreath competition

Will anyone be able to stop the Terry and Judy juggernaut – they have the won the ‘best Christmas wreath’ every single year since its inception in 2019.

Judging will occur late this week with a very attractive prize awaiting the winner.

Just to remind you…this was the feedback from our judging panel last year..

We had the joy of reviewing 14 Christmas wreaths across the Botanica. Floor six was the clear winner of Christmas spirit while floors four and one may be, at least for this year, labelled our Scrooge floors with no contenders for this prestigious inaugural award.

An iterative reductionist approach was taken in selecting a final winner from this high quality field of entrants. After a thoroughly unvalidated process of review by Caroline, Graeme and our four kids a final winner was selected.

Drum roll ………….

Apartment 202 for it reference to Australian eucalyptus and a bold, delightful and simplistic use of ribbon adornment – an elementary and classical use of the Christmas wreath with a reference to both less complicated times and the Australian environment. Congratulations.
