Progress …at last

DSCN5044

Just finished a really good meeting with RPV and CYP.

For the first time, I really feel that they are doing stuff to fix our tram squeal problem.  I won’t go into details now but I expect all residents will get an update this week

On other matters

  1. Our Elm trees have had a further reprieve and will last until July
  2. A separate note will come out and explain the details but our Service Lane will go in late June.  The portion of our Service Lane in front of The Botanica will effectively become a private two way driveway for our residents only.  The parking will go at same time
  3. CYP have had a noise monitor on our building for some time.  We will get access to the data from next week.  This will enable us to have the information independently verified

Noise – predicted vs actual

Annoying-noise-001-640x384MMRA / RPV and CYP have just released the results of the predicted noise levels versus the actual noise levels during the recent night works in April.

Here is what they predicted

Capture

Its a little hard to read but essentially they expected the worst nights for us to be April 6 and April 8.  It also said that our count of days exceeding the threshold would be 5 days.

Here is the actual noise levels

This shows that we only had 3 days over the limit.

The contractual limit is 10 days in a 15 day period or 40 days in a six month period

The above info was for the April works, what about going forward??

This is the list of what work is being done when over the next 24 months – NONE is at night

and this is the predicted noise levels – IF they do nothing to reduce the noise

..so this says that worst time for Botanica will be during the D4 work (Southern box roof slab) in January to May 2019.  Importantly that these figures are from their model and assumes that they do zero noise mitigation.  Clearly we will work with them (and the Domain who is also badly impacted) to get the noise levels down..somehow!!

Latest news from MMRA (now RPV) and CYP

CYP_Wordmark_Blue_RGB-400wide

I attended the Community Reference group (CRG) meeting on Wednesday – here is a pack of the info presented.  Domain-CRG-Presentation-30-May-2018

I’ll put up some more notes later but the main takeaways are

  • 14 trees go from tomorrow – they should have pink pain markers on the ones to go…but I’m sure the elms are going but have no pink paint??
  • The St Kilda Rd service lane in front of our building, will go in the next 2 weeks.  The ‘site fence’ will be moved back to the kerb.  Car parking will obviously go.  Our lower carpark driveway will be inside the ‘site fence’.  It will have traffic management and there will be no access to the city side of the driveway.  This means that you will come in and out towards Bowen Cres.  This will apply for 12-18 months.
  • The noisest time for Botanica is now predicted to be Jan – March 2019

We did also discuss the tram squeal issue – it has been escalated and they now realise that it is having a massive impact on all local residents
